The 17-year-old spoke to PNE.Com after a jubilant trophy ceremony in front of the North End supporters who had made the trip to Kenilworth Road.

“It’s a great feeling,” he said. “I thought it was a really strong performance as well, we had some tough spells throughout the game but we dealt with them well and it’s a great result.”

The forward’s goal came at a crucial point in the match with the score at 1-1 and the Hatters on top.

He was played in over the top with a magnificent ball from skipper Harry Nevin and coolly finished.

After that, North End never looked back and went on to record a resounding 4-1 victory.

“I was buzzing, that was at the stage where we were coming under a bit of pressure, and they were getting on top of us so it was an important goal.

“I was chuffed with it, obviously before the game I was hoping to score and so to do it was brilliant.”

With just one league match left to play against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, the cup triumph all but rounds off an outstanding campaign for the U19s and Cross-Adair was full of praise for his teammates and is eager to see what the future holds.

“We’ve got a brilliant group of lads and we thoroughly deserved to win the cup. It’s been a fantastic season and that just tops it off really well.

“I think I’ve had a really strong end to the season, I just want to have a good break but obviously still keep going, keep grafting and working hard over the off-season and come back flying as a second-year.

“Hopefully I can just kick on and keep getting better.”
