Following clarification from the EFL’s Dubious Goals Committee, it has been confirmed that Emil Riis ended the 2021/22 season with 21 goals in all competitions.
The second goal in the 4-1 home victory over Middlesbrough was submitted by the club as Riis’, however this has now been confirmed as a Dael Fry own goal.
The Danish centre forward also appeared to have a strike taken away from him earlier in the season against Queens Park Rangers, with many sources reporting a Jimmy Dunne own goal, but this has been officially registered as Emil’s.
This means that the 23-year-old has ended the 2021/22 campaign with 17 goals in the Championship and 21 in all competitions.
