Robbie Brady scored a 91st-minute penalty to earn all three points for Republic of Ireland in a crucial Nations League clash.
Brady started alongside PNE teammate Troy Parrott, with Alan Browne later used as a substitute, and Ireland knew they needed to take a point from Armenia to confirm safety in their group.
The left wing back – making his first Ireland start since March 2021 – assisted John Egan’s opener, and Stephen Kenny’s side then doubled their lead, before two quickfire Armenia goals against the run of play changed the course of the game.
But after a VAR review handed Republic of Ireland a late lifeline, Brady stepped up to the spot and calmly converted to ensure his nation’s safety in the group.
A full international round-up will be available on Wednesday.
