Russell Watson To Lead PNE Tribute To Queen Elizabeth II

Russell Watson will perform the national anthem at our home game against Burnley

Following Saturday’s postponement of EFL fixtures as a mark of respect to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Preston North End will return to action against Burnley on Tuesday 13th September.

There will be plenty going on across the midweek EFL fixture programme in tribute to Her late Majesty.

A minute’s silence will take place before each game, while players are set to wear black armbands, flags are to be flown at half-mast and the national anthem will be played in stadiums.

At our game against Burnley – which kicks off at 8pm – the teams will emerge from the tunnel slightly earlier than normal, and a minute’s silence will take place.

Immediately after this, we are delighted to welcome English tenor Russell Watson back to Deepdale to perform the national anthem.

We urge all supporters to get to their seats early at Deepdale to join in with what should be a fantastic and fitting tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
