Liam Lindsay: “We’ve Got Nothing To Lose”

5 April 2023

Liam Lindsay feels Preston North End have got “nothing to lose” as they look to attack the final seven games of the season.

PNE currently sit tenth in the division heading into the Easter weekend, five points away from Blackburn Rovers who occupy the final Play-Off spot.

On Good Friday, Ryan Lowe’s side will head down to London to take on Queens Park Rangers, before returning home to face Reading – two sides who are battling at the other end of the division.

Speaking about the rest of the season, Liam said: “I think we’ll just attack it; we’ve got nothing to lose.

“We’ll just go for it and see where it takes us really. I think these two games, especially with how close together they are and who we’re playing, I think it’ll decide the games after that and where we are in the table.

“They’re important games and we’re looking to get victories in both.”

In QPR, North End are facing a team who are struggling for form at the moment, having only won twice in their previous 23 Championship outings.

At a vital stage of the campaign, they’ll be looking to quickly turn that run around as they aim to maintain their second tier status.

Liam said: “They’re not in the best of runs but these teams can be dangerous because they’ll fight for the team, their manager and for keeping in the Championship.

“It’ll be a tough game. There’s no easy games in this league, I always say it.

“I don’t think form really matters because I think on the day anything can happen in this league so it’s going to be a tough game but one we’re looking to get three points from.”

North End go into the game fresh from last weekend’s fantastic performance and victory over their fiercest rivals.

Goals from Brad Potts, Ben Whiteman and Tom Cannon helped to secure a 3-1 win in front of a packed-out and noisy Deepdale.

Liam said: “It was my first derby with Blackpool at home so it was amazing really.

“I did realise [what it meant] from before but playing in it, the noise was amazing and we rewarded the fans with a good victory.

“I think everything kind of went to plan. We started well, got the goals, it was a pity we conceded but it was a good day at the office.”
