Speaking after scoring in PNE’s 3-0 victory over Bruno’s Magpies, Kian Taylor said he was keen to keep impressing manager Ryan Lowe.
Kian, who completed his two-year scholarship with North End last year, had a one-year extension exercised at the end of the 2022/23 season.
In the final few weeks of the campaign, ‘KT’ was involved in first team training and he has been since the return for pre-season training this time around.
Kian played 45 minutes in the opening match of pre-season against Bamber Bridge, and then played at left wing back in the victory over Gibraltar National League side Bruno’s Magpies.
Netting in the 66th minute, Kian was part of the second-half side which featured many fellow youngsters.
Kian said: “It’s pre-season so we can only give it our all every time the gaffer wants to see us or needs to see us.
“I think we’ve all done well. Obviously it’s been tough coming up but we’ve all managed to do well and I think it’s shown in the last two games.
“All you can do is just try and impress the gaffer every time he sees you. I’ve been playing many different positions so I’ll continue to do what the gaffer wants me to and see where it takes me.”
While local lad Kian is thoroughly enjoying the experience of being away with the club he loves in a first team environment, the defender admitted the heat has been taking its toll.
“It’s been very tough,” he said. “The heat takes it out of you.
“After training you don’t have the energy to do anything else. You just have to relax and get ready for the afternoon session. The yoga sessions help and you just have to prepare yourselves as best as you can.
“We had towels over our heads today because it was that hot so it was very intense.
“It’s completely different scenery which is good, but the heat does take it out of you.”
