Match Preview: Bamber Bridge (A)

30 June 2023

Preston North End will kick off their pre-season schedule this weekend with the traditional visit to Bamber Bridge.

North End will head to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 1st July, ahead of a week’s training camp in Spain.

Last year’s fixture between the two sides saw PNE use the depths of the squad, with a mixture of senior players and U19s on show – and that is likely to be the same again this weekend.

Emil Riis will be unavailable as he continues his recovery from the ACL injury he suffered in January, meanwhile Ben Whiteman will also miss out. The midfielder hasn't trained since the squad returned for pre-season due to a pre-existing condition sustained at the back end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Ched Evans will be missing too with the striker still recovering after a successful surgery, and Alan Browne and Ali McCann are also not expected to feature having only returned to Euxton on Friday following international duty earlier this month.

Both Browne and McCann missed last year’s meeting against Bamber Bridge which saw PNE come out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Whiteman, Ben Woodburn and Mikey O’Neill.

The year before was a much higher-scoring event, as the Lilywhites put eight past Brig at Euxton, after extreme weather conditions meant the game couldn’t be played at Irongate.

The sun is set to be shining this year, though, and a bumper crowd is once again expected.

There is no option for supporters to buy tickets in advance for this fixture, with tickets available to buy on the gate via cash or card payments, priced as per below.

Adults £10
Over 65s, U16s and students £5
U11s Free

Gates will open from 12 noon and there will be plenty going on inside the ground. The clubhouse and outdoor bar will both be open, while there will also be hot and cold food and drinks available from May’s Place.

Please note, there is parking available for spectators at the ground, and fans are kindly asked to be respectful of local residents when parking.
