Preston North End will host Salford City at Deepdale in round one of the Carabao Cup.
After playing Bristol City at Ashton Gate on the opening day of the Championship season, Ryan Lowe’s side will welcome the Ammies to Lancashire in the week commencing 7th August 2023.
It will be the first time North End and Salford City meet in competitive action, having previously only faced each other in a pre-season friendly.
Salford narrowly missed out on a trip to Wembley at the end of the 2022/23 season, losing out to Stockport County in a penalty shootout in the Play-Off semi-final.
In last season’s Carabao Cup, North End came out 4-1 winners at Huddersfield Town in round one, with goals from Troy Parrott, Brad Potts, and a brace from Ali McCann sealing progression.
PNE were knocked out in round two by Wolverhampton Wanderers, despite a strong second-half showing which featured a stunning strike from Ben Woodburn.
