Preston North End have activated the option to extend the contracts of Kian Best, Kian Taylor and Kitt Nelson by a year.
The trio are coming to the end of the second year of their scholarships and will now stay at the club until at least the summer of 2024.
All three players made key contributions to North End’s double-winning campaign in the 2021/22 season, and they have continued to play regularly during the current term.
Best, a local lad who joined the club at a young age, has proven a versatile option for the Academy in the previous few years, lining up mainly on the left side of a back three or in central midfield.
Taylor – also from the local area and a PNE fan – has often sat side by side in defence with Best, becoming a regular starter in both league and cup competition, as well as the Central League.
Forward Nelson has also proven his worth in a number of different positions over the course of the past two years, mainly utilised in the final third of the pitch either up top or just in behind the strikers.
Next season, the trio will remain eligible to feature in all U19s competitions, while also having the opportunity to impress to push into first team contention.
