Date Set For Luke’s Everest Challenge

22 May 2023

Preston North End sports science assistant Luke Hemmings is set to take part in a challenge at Deepdale in June 2023, all in aid of Dementia UK.

Luke, 28, will be scaling the height of Everest at the home of North End on three separate occasions – Monday 19th June, Wednesday 21st June and Friday 23rd June.

Luke, who has previously fundraised for different charitable causes, will be climbing up and down the stairs of the Alan Kelly Town End to replicate the height of Earth’s highest mountain above sea level.

Raising money for Dementia UK – a specialist dementia nurse charity – Luke has so far accumulated over £1,500 for the cause.

Speaking in January 2023, Luke said: “I like the charity because it raises money for the Admiral Nurses who care for the people who have sadly got dementia, and the people and the families surrounding those people who provide support.

“I really like the ethos of the charity and chose them to raise money for and to support them as much as I can really.

“Again the underlying message, as always, is to raise awareness as well as money and to support where I can.”
