Remembrance Matchday This Weekend

1 November 2023

Saturday's fixture at Deepdale against Coventry City will mark our annual Armed Forces and dedicated Remembrance fixture, as we honour those who serve or have served their lives in battle.

Remembrance is a national opportunity to remember those who make the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms and protect our way of life.

To mark the day, Preston North End Community and Education Trust have invited a number of both past and present members of the Armed Forces to attend the fixture.

Prior to kick-off, the players will emerge from the tunnel between a guard of honour formed by Royal Navy Cadets, and there will then be wreaths laid by KGN Carl Charnley – a PNE season card holder who is currently serving for the 4th Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.

A period of silence will be observed by all inside the stadium, including the players who will gather around the centre circle, followed by the playing of The Last Post by a bugler.

At half-time, taking part in PNECET's usual penalty shootout game will be children from local barracks, as well as members of the PNE Forces programme with their children.

You can also get involved by donating where possible by finding bucket collectors around the ground, who will be raising funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
