Freddie Named As Finalist For Championship Player Of The Season

5 October 2023

Freddie Woodman has been named as a finalist for the Championship Player of the Season award at the Northwest Football Awards.

North End’s No.1 was on top form throughout the 2022/23 campaign – his first as a North End player – as he kept 17 clean sheets, including a run of seven at the start of the season.

As a result of his performances, Freddie was named the winner of the club’s Sir Tom Finney Player of the Year award and also won the Players’ Player of the Year accolade at the end of the campaign.

He was then nominated for the Championship Player of the Season award at the Northwest Football Awards at the beginning of September, and fans had the opportunity to have their say.

With voting now closed, Freddie has been confirmed as a finalist and is up against Blackburn Rovers’ Dominic Hyam and Burnley’s Josh Cullen for the accolade.

Preston North End Community and Education Trust [PNECET] have also been named as a finalist for three awards, recognising the lifechanging work they do in the local community.

PNECET are up for Community Club of the Season, Community Initiative of the Season and the Kick It Out Promoting Inclusion award.

The winners will be announced on Monday 6th November.
