International Preview: September 2023

5 September 2023

Alan Browne, Ali McCann and Will Keane have joined up with their national sides ahead of UEFA EURO qualifiers later this week.

Fresh from scoring a brace against Stoke City at the weekend, Keane – the club's top scorer so far this season – will be hoping to make his first appearance for Republic of Ireland since June 2022.

With skipper Browne also named in the squad, the PNE duo face two difficult tests throughout the international break.

First up is a visit to the Parc des Princes on Thursday 7th September (7.45pm) to take on France, who have won each of their opening four qualification matches.

Stephen Kenny’s side – who have three points from as many games so far – will then return to the Aviva Stadium to face Netherlands on Sunday 10th September, with that match also kicking off at 7.45pm.

For Ali, he’ll be hoping to help Northern Ireland improve on their start to the qualification campaign, having taken three points from four matches.

On the cards over the next week are away trips to Slovenia and Kazakhstan on Thursday 7th September (7.45pm) and Sunday 10th September (2pm) respectively.

Since making his debut for his national side in November 2020, the 23-year-old has been a regular feature in the Northern Ireland midfield.
