Duane: “We’re Not Going To Give Up”

12 April 2024

Speaking ahead of a crucial clash against Norwich City this weekend, Duane Holmes feels North End have a great chance to do something special.

The Canaries will arrive at Deepdale occupying that final Play-Off spot which PNE are looking to take, and currently the gap between the two is five points.

A victory would be invaluable ahead of a game in hand against Southampton, to be played on Tuesday night.

Duane said: “I think to be honest we’ve done ourselves a little bit of a disservice. We could be a bit higher, but there’s still a great chance to do something special and we’re not going to give up on that dream.

“We know it’s a massive game but like I’ve said all year we think we can beat anyone.

“We’ve got to perform like we can. If we stick together as a group and perform to our levels we can beat anyone so bring it on.

“You don’t want to get to this point of the season and have nothing to play for and nothing to be working towards. We’re just happy and excited for the challenge ahead.

“There’s five massive games to try and get the club into the Play-Offs and beyond.”

The fixture against the East Anglian outfit is the second part of a Deepdale double-header, following Tuesday night’s 4-1 victory over Huddersfield Town.

Duane claimed an assist for North End’s second of the night and the first of Milutin Osmajić’s quickfire hat-trick.

Duane said: “It’s fantastic. I said after the game on Tuesday we know what Milly can offer and we’re all really happy he’s got his rewards because he does work really hard for the team.

“We knew going out in the second half that if we got an early goal that we could go on and win the game because they’re down at the bottom end of the table.

“They’re fighting for their lives and we knew they’d be getting deeper and deeper in trying to protect what they’ve got so getting the penalty helped and then Milly comes on and makes the impact.

“We knew this week was massive. The gaffer spoke at the start of the week saying we needed maximum points and we got the job done on Tuesday.

“It wasn’t a great first-half performance I don’t think, but obviously we turned it on in the second half. We know we need to be better on Saturday.”
