Match Preview: Portsmouth (A), Youth Alliance Cup Final

10 April 2024

Preston North End U18s will look to become Youth Alliance Cup champions on Wednesday evening as they take on Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

The young Lilywhites will face Pompey at the home of their first team at 7pm on Wednesday 10th April, and tickets are available for supporters to buy for £5 for adults and £1 for all U18s.

To allow more fans to make the long journey, the club offered free coach travel for supporters from Deepdale, so the lads will be cheered on by the North End faithful a long way from home.

PNE progressed to the national final only a few weeks back when Grimsby Town came to Springfields for a northern final, and as it looked like the game was going to be decided by a penalty shootout, wing-back Troy Tarry popped up at the back post to send his side through.

Portsmouth on the other hand got the job done a long time ago, sealing their place in the national final back in January, courtesy of a victory over Plymouth Argyle.

Pompey currently sit third in their league table, while North End top theirs and will be looking to complete the league and cup double.

It wouldn't be the first time that has happened, either, having done so in the 2021/22 campaign, with the final being won against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

North End will be without the suspended Kaedyn Kamara on the night, but otherwise head to Fratton Park full of confidence.

If you can't make it to the game, you can follow live update's on the club's social media platforms.
