Pottsy Happy To Contribute To A ‘Decent’ Point

27 January 2024

Goalscorer Brad Potts was delighted to get on the scoresheet and help North End pick up a “decent point” against Millwall.

After falling behind inside five minutes at The Den, the right wing-back levelled proceedings in the 33rd minute after being found charging through on goal by Mads Frøkjær.

From that point until the break, PNE had chances to go ahead, as well as opportunities right at the end of the game, but the points were shared.

Brad said: “I think we wanted to come here and win the game, but I think on the whole it’s probably a decent point because on this recent run we’ve had we’re probably losing them games before Bristol City.

“I think on the whole it’s probably a decent point away from home. We were under a bit of pressure in the second half so the lads did well to see the game out. I think it’s an alright result in the end.

“It's annoying because I think we gave ourselves an uphill task really, going 1-0 down. For the first half an hour especially after their goal they were the better team maybe, and I think when we scored we showed what we’re all about.

“I think half-time came at the wrong time really because we were dominating the game just before half-time. Going 1-0 down is not ideal and we’ve done well to regroup and get back in it.”

It was a tidy finish by the 29-year-old to draw his side level and score his second goal of the season, from a similar position to his previous, at home to Southampton in October.

He was found by Danish midfielder Frøkjær, after space opened up on the right-hand side, which the wing-back took full advantage of.

Brad said: “I know when we break that one of my strengths is running forward. I’ve seen a big gap and Mads has obviously got a great passing range and he’s found us, so I’m just delighted to score and get us back in the game.

“With the way we played after I scored we’ve probably got to score again when we’re on top. We had a couple of chances but going in at half-time it probably came at the wrong time.

“They dominated for a bit at the start of the second half, but we still had a couple of chances at the end of the game to win it.

“I think we’ve probably just got to be clinical when we do get them opportunities.”
