Donate Towards Headstone For Preston North End Invincible

23 January 2024

Donations are being welcomed to fund a headstone for one of the Preston North End Invincibles team, Archie Goodall.

Archie featured twice for PNE during the 1888/89 season which saw the club go unbeaten on their way to becoming champions in the first Football League campaign, while also winning the FA Cup.

Archie’s brother John also represented North End during that famous season, and the pair became the first siblings to represent different countries on the international stage, with John playing for England and Archie captaining Ireland.

The former footballer passed away in November 1929 and his grave is currently unmarked at Nottingham Road Cemetery in Derby.

A historian local to the area has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds towards a new headstone for the grave, and PNE supporters are being welcomed to donate where possible.
