Gaffer Thanks Travelling Fans Amid Postponement

6 March 2024

Manager Ryan Lowe thanked the Preston North End fans who made the journey to Southampton, only for the fixture to be postponed.

Just short of 700 PNE supporters were ready to watch their side take on the Saints away from home for the first time in over a decade, however the match had to be postponed due to health and safety concerns over a fire in the nearby area.

A large number of fans had already arrived in Southampton by the time the announcement was made, with many not far behind, and the manager extended his thanks for their support and wished them a safe journey home.

Ryan said: “First and foremost, with the safety of everyone involved around the ground, I think it’s important to know that nobody’s injured or hurt.

“Then obviously, our supporters who've travelled all the way and probably taken the day off work to come all the way down – we really appreciate that.

“As always, you travel and you support. Unfortunately, there is no game to be played tonight but we look forward to getting back at home to Deepdale on Saturday afternoon against Stoke and hopefully we can perform for you.”
