PNE To Celebrate Unite For Access Matchday

1 March 2024

Preston North End are proud to be supporting Level Playing Field’s ‘Unite For Access’ campaign at this weekend’s home match against Hull City.

Following a record-breaking year for the campaign in 2023 in terms of club participation, it returns to Deepdale again on Saturday to celebrate and inspire good access and inclusion at sports venues.

PNE are pleased to once again be showing support for the campaign and the club are continually looking to develop the matchday experience for disabled supporters, with the aim to make the environment as inclusive and comfortable as possible.

On top of the club’s existing offerings, which include accessibility passports, Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyards, and audio descriptive commentary – there are a couple of new services being launched this weekend.

Ear defenders are available for supporters who may wish to limit the noise around them and to make their experience more comfortable. Fans can claim their ear defenders from the disabled window at the ticket office on a matchday, and they will then need to be returned at the end of the game to the Sir Tom Finney reception or to a nearby steward. Please note, a contact form must be filled out when picking up the ear defenders.

The club are also trialling a quiet zone on matchdays, starting this weekend, which is to be located on the bottom rows of Block A in the Family Zone of the Sir Tom Finney Stand.

The first team will also be showing their support for the ‘Unite For Access’ campaign on Saturday by warming up in t-shirts dedicated to Level Playing Field.

In advance of the dedicated matchday, goalkeeper Dai Cornell – who has been a key figure in the implementation of some of the aforementioned services – also gave a stadium tour earlier this week to disabled students from Cardinal Newman College who work closely with PNECET, one of whom will walk out with the team.

We hope everyone attending has a fantastic day at Deepdale, as we continue to celebrate access and inclusion at the home of Preston North End.
