Stoke City Match Dedicated To Her Game Too

8 March 2024

Preston North End and Preston North End Community and Education Trust [PNECET] are dedicating Saturday’s match against Stoke City to the Her Game Too campaign.

With International Women’s Day also being celebrated this weekend, the club and PNECET are promoting inclusivity and equality by again highlighting Her Game Too – an award-winning campaign tackling sexist abuse in sport.

In a continued effort to encourage female participation and making sure football is accessible for all, more than 90 females will be partaking in various activities throughout the matchday.

There will be a guard of honour ahead of kick-off made up of female participants from some of PNECET’s programmes, and young girls will also be taking part in the half-time penalty shootout.

PNECET will be hosting players from their Emerging Talent Centre in an executive box, as well as inviting a student from Olive School to read out the teamsheet ahead of kick-off. Keep an eye out around the ground, too, for the Her Game Too selfie board, and the t-shirts being worn by the first team during the warm-up.

This year, Her Game Too are collaborating with Kick It Out, with the theme being ‘Inspire Inclusivity’ and collectively everyone has a part to play in kicking sexism out of football.

During the 2022/23 campaign, Kick It Out saw a 400% rise in sexism reports and this continues to rise every season, with Her Game Too also receiving reports every weekend.

Now, perhaps more than ever, it’s important to make it clear that football is a game for all, and everyone is welcome at Deepdale.
