Preston North End Community and Education Trust [PNECET], the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust and the Lancashire Football Association deliver a weekly Football For Wellbeing session to support men aged 18 and over with their mental health.
The session is inclusive of males from all backgrounds with the aim of reducing isolation and providing mild mental health benefits for participants through a recreational football session.
The partnership with the two local organisations allows participants to develop a regular exercise routine while experiencing positive mental health benefits.
A one-hour football session is delivered every Wednesday for men to come together through a combined love of football while being encouraged to support one another in a welcoming, relaxed and inclusive environment.
Those who attend the Football For Wellbeing session can also access a Minds Matter mental health workshop through the programme, which is delivered by the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, to allow participants to learn more about how they can support their own and others’ mental health.
The Football For Wellbeing session is delivered from 11am until 12 noon every Wednesday on the astro-turf pitch at the Lancashire FA County Ground in Leyland.
