Rugby League Provision

Preston North End Community and Education Trust is working in partnership with Preston City Council, the University of Central Lancashire and the Rugby Football League to build participation and interest in the sport of rugby league, ahead of the landmark Rugby League World Cup being held in England in 2021 - now delayed to 2022 after the initially planned dates were affected by Coronavirus restrictions.

To support the aim to build participation and interest in the sport, a Rugby League Development Officer - Ryan Allen - was employed by the Trust in September 2021 to help achieve these aims. The Wales National Team will have their training base at UCLan Sports Arena in Preston when the Rugby League World Cup is held while several matches across the competition will be held across the North West of England.

Rugby league has been incorporated within the Trust's delivery across various programmes, including but not limited to the Premier League Primary Stars and FIT FANS programmes, and there additional sessions have been set-up specifically focusing on rugby league, such as a weekly session for Preston College students, where a rugby league team has now been set-up as part of the ongoing aims of the partner organisations in Preston.

We also offer rugby league work in high schools in and around Preston and development days and camps for children during school half-terms.
