James Galt Wins Young Coach Of The Year

7 December 2019

Inclusion coach for Preston North End Community and Education Trust James Galt has won the Young Coach of the Year award, supported by Sport Wales.

James, who is deaf himself, works on the Trust's Disability football programmes and the Wildcats initiative which encourages girls' participation in football.

James is a beacon to people with impairments, showing that it is possible to aim high and achieve as a coach. The secret, he says, is to work hard and enjoy it at the same time!

The avid football player has channelled his passion for the game into his coaching and in a period of 30 months, he went on a qualification spree to improve his confidence in coaching. This included gaining his FA Level 2 and Futsal Level 1 and 2 badges.

He is currently the assistant coach at the Lancashire FA and Preston North End NW Disability Futsal Hub, which is part of The Football Association’s Disability Talent Identification Programme, which develops disabled children and young people who have the potential to play for England’s disability teams.

Congratulations from everyone at Preston North End Community and Education Trust, James!
