Sleep Out Appeal Close To Louis' Heart

11 November 2019

Among those has been Julie Myerscough, who is taking part in the Sleep Out with her brother Phil.

The fundraising event will see hundreds of people bed down for the night to raise awareness of homelessness, with all monies raised to be used by the Foxton Centre to buy and renovate a house in Preston for rough sleepers in the city.

Incredibly, Julie has raised more than £900 alone on her online fundraising page, meaning she and Phil have comfortably surpassed their joint £1,000 fundraising target with plenty of time to spare.

When speaking to The One And Only last month, Julie explained that Phil is a keen PNE supporter and it was his reminder that the Sleep Out was taking place that led to their decision to participate.

“Phil told me about this event and having been made aware of it myself, we both decided to take part," she said. "I have donated food supplies to the Foxton Centre on numerous occasions.

“Homelessness pulls at my heartstrings. Life is not easy and to have to do it alone on the streets, lonely, cold and with addiction, mental health or physical health issues is just awful. I just thank god we have The Foxton Centre to help the people of Preston.”

The online fundraising total for the whole appeal has now surpassed £26,000 and donations will remain open after the event.

And with Julie having proved so successful with her fundraising, her tips to generate funds are certainly worth hearing!

When asked for her advice on fundraising, she concluded: “Keep pestering, keep sharing on social media and hold events such as cake sales at work!”

Text donations can now be made to the appeal in a one-off format, with any amount from £1 to £20. Simply text 'PNESLEEPOUT' to 70085 followed by the number of the amount you would like to donate.

For example, to donate £5, text 'PNESLEEPOUT 5' to 70085, or to donate £20, please text 'PNESLEEPOUT 20'.

Alternatively, donations can still be made online, either at the appeal page here or on Julie's own fundraising page here. Donations will remain open after the Sleep Out, too.
