Preston North End Community and Education Trust is launching a 12 Days of Fitmas activity challenge for participants to keep fit over Christmas by following daily exercise challenges, with the option to support the PNECET Festive Hampers campaign in the process.
12 Days of Fitmas will ask Preston North End fans, existing PNECET participants and all other members of the community to take part in 12 days of fun physical activity challenges, running from Saturday 12th December until Sunday 23rd December.
With challenge videos to be shared daily on the community social media channels, those who do get involved are also encouraged to seek sponsors for their involvement to support the PNECET Festive Hampers initiative, but there is no requirement to do so.
The PNECET Festive Hampers initiative is supporting the elderly and most vulnerable members of the community over the festive season with the provision of essential foods and toiletries, along with seasonal items such as mince pies, and club reading materials.
With the Coronavirus pandemic halting the running of many of the Trust’s programmes, 12 Days of Fitmas will give participants the chance to remain active from home with fun challenges that can be completed from home and catered to varying levels of ability.
Head of health and wellbeing Melissa Brown said: “Our 12 Days of Fitmas challenge is a great opportunity for our participants to stay active at home over the festive season, particularly with the current restrictions limiting opportunities for physical activity.
“We will provide a new challenge for both existing programme members and new participants to try every day from 12th December until 23rd December, which will hopefully provide a great way for members of our community to complete the countdown to Christmas by remaining active and engaged from home!
“We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community to raise funds for our Festive Hampers initiative and if that can also be done by some participants staying fit through the 12 Days of Fitmas challenge, it’s a universally positive thing for everyone.”
To take part in the 12 Days of Fitmas challenge, simply keep your eyes peeled on the community social channels for a new challenge every day.
The 12 Days of Fitmas challenge will be all about having fun while exercising from home, but those participants who feel they can also fundraise for the Festive Hampers initiative in the process, are encouraged to do so by clicking here.
Simply click the ‘fundraise for us’ page to set-up your own fundraising page in aid of the initiative. Offline fundraising is also accepted but final donations must be sent via bank transfer.
