NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking blood donor heroes has a number of sessions with appointments available in and around the Preston area.
Providing life-saving blood and platelets to patients across the country doesn’t stop over the winter, and in previous years, the NHS has seen around 24,000 missed appointments over the holiday period.
Building blood stocks now can help the NHS through the critical winter period and a second wave of COVID-19. Hospitals need blood for routine operations, saving accident victims and treating patients with serious illnesses like cancer.
The NHS is seeking around 25,000 new blood donors this winter, to ensure that hospitals have the life-saving blood they need to treat patients.
You can find out if you can give blood and register to donate by visiting blood.co.uk. Donating blood can save or improve up to three lives.
A number ppointments are available from 12 noon until 4pm on Thursday 25th March at the GHS Cultural Centre, as indicated below, and details of more appointments available from venues across Preston can be found by clicking here and searching 'Preston Lancashire'.
If you can't make your blood donation appointment, please contact the NHS three days in advance, so that the appointment can be filled; be one of the nine in ten donors that keep their appointment during the winter period.
