PNE Forces Team Competing In Veterans League

28 October 2021

Preston North End Community and Education Trust’s PNE Forces participants have begun competing in the North West Veterans League this season.

The league sees Club Community Organisations’ Armed Forces teams competing against one another in regular organised fixtures.

Fixtures thus far this season have seen North End’s participants narrowly losing out to Oldham Athletic Community Trust in their opening match, before more recently winning against Blackpool FC Community Trust.

Friendly matches are also organised for our participants, who have visited the likes of Manchester City in the Community and Liverpool FC Foundation in recent years.

The PNE Forces programme engages past and present members of the military and their dependents through a free weekly football session held at PlayFootball Preston from 8pm until 9pm every Wednesday.

Community Engagement Coordinator Alistair White said: “The Veterans League is providing our PNE Forces participants with a fantastic opportunity to represent Preston North End Community and Education Trust.

“Our participants have been playing against other North West clubs throughout the campaign and conducting themselves brilliantly while playing some great football.

“The Veterans League fixtures are well supplemented by our free weekly Armed Forces football session where all past and present members of the military are welcome to get together and engage with like-minded military personnel, in a friendly and welcoming environment.”
