Two Years Of Sporting Memories Celebrated With Paul Huntington

4 October 2021

Preston North End Community and Education Trust have celebrated two years of delivering the Sporting Memories programme by welcoming Paul Huntington as a special guest for an online meeting.

Hunts joined a specially arranged meeting last Thursday to discuss a wide range of topics, providing participants with a personal insight into his career so far.

More recently, participants were also treated to an appearance from Geoff Twentyman Jr, a North End defender of the 1980s turned sports correspondent for BBC Radio Bristol.

PNECET began delivering Sporting Memories on October 8th 2019 to support those living with dementia, depression and loneliness and their carers.

While the programme underwent a lot of change in its first few months - with the initial venue of Finney House switching to Deepdale, before an enforced move to online delivery because of the pandemic, which remains in place - it has enjoyed great success.

Participants regularly join meetings to enjoy themed discussions, light physical activity, quizzes and more, all based around sporting reminiscence.

Meetings take place every Tuesday via Zoom from 11am until 12.30pm, with all welcome. Please email hannah.white@pne.com for more information.
