Class Of The Week: Two Primary Schools Rewarded With Tickets For Reading Game

16 February 2022

Year 5 and Year 6 pupils from Harris Primary School and Year 4 and Year 5 pupils from Brindle St Joseph’s Primary School are being rewarded for their progression in their lessons with free match tickets to this afternoon’s game.

The two schools have been recognised as part of our recently launched Class of the Week ticket initiative for primary school children.

At least one primary school in Preston and the surrounding areas will be selected as the ‘Class of the Week’ for every Preston North End home fixture between now and the end of the season.

The initiative was launched in time for the Bristol City game last month, and three schools – Hoole St Michael’s, Golden Hill and St Bernard’s – have already benefitted from the initiative across our last two home matches.

All classes that are recognised receive a ticket for every child in their class, with the same number of adult tickets also provided.

Year 5 and 6 pupils from partner school Harris Primary School have been progressing superbly in their gymnastics lessons, delivered by PNECET as part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme, and as a result will be cheering on the Lilywhites this evening.

Olivia Parkinson, Schools Provision Officer for the Trust, praised Harris’ progress.

She said: “Harris have come a long way with their gymnastics and are now working really hard practising some of the most difficult skills in our lessons.

“The attitude the pupils have shown has been really impressive which has helped them make such encouraging progress.

“They are a much-deserved Class of the Week and we look forward to welcoming them to the Reading match at Deepdale!”

Meanwhile, we are also welcoming Year 4 and 5 pupils from Brindle St Joseph’s Primary School to tonight’s game. The enthusiastic class are described as showing a fantastic attitude towards their learning in all of their subjects and are said to be a group filled with Preston North End fans!

Classes of the week can be nominated for their achievements both in and outside the classroom and even outside of school. Nominations are welcomed from staff members of all local schools in Preston and the surrounding areas. Parents or guardians wishing to make a nomination should contact their child’s school.
