Brockholes Wood Representing PNECET In Premier League National Tournament

17 May 2022

Girls from Brockholes Wood Primary School are representing Preston North End Community and Education Trust in a Premier League national tournament this week at Watford’s Vicarage Road!

The Year 6 class have won two previous tournaments in the North West to reach this stage and coincidentally were also winners at the Dick Clegg Preston Schools’ Finals Day last weekend.

In February, the school came out on top from 12 Preston primary schools to win our initial Preston tournament.

From there, the school travelled to the North West tournament, hosted by Everton in the Community, the following month, and they again emerged as winners against other schools in the region representing fellow North West clubs!

That saw them qualify for the impending national finals at Watford, but in the meantime, the same group of players have also won the Dick Kerr Ladies U11s shield at the Preston Schools’ Finals Day when they defeated Fulwood St Peter’s Primary School in the final.

In their group at the national final, they will face fellow primary school teams representing Leicester City, Newport County, Sheffield Utd and York City.

Traineeship Coordinator Jack Mountain said: “We’re proud to have Brockholes Wood Primary School pupils representing Preston North End Community and Education Trust in the national finals of the Premier League Girls tournament.

“The girls have played some brilliant football in the last two rounds and we wish them luck in the national finals at Watford this week.”

The girls have also received a good luck message from Preston North End captain Alan Browne ahead of the tournament.

Everyone at Preston North End Community and Education Trust wishes the girls the best of luck in the national finals!
