Football Stands Together: PNECET Inviting Ukrainian Families To Middlesbrough Fixture

2 May 2022

Preston North End Community and Education Trust [PNECET] will invite Ukrainian families to Preston North End’s season-ending fixture against Middlesbrough at Deepdale this weekend.

The club and PNECET together raised over £3,000 for the British Red Cross’ Ukraine Crisis Appeal earlier in the season, when clubs across the professional game in the United Kingdom stood in solidarity with those affected by the crisis in Ukraine with the Football Stands Together campaign.

Preston North End’s support for Ukrainian refugees will continue with those affected by the crisis and their host families from Preston and the surrounding areas to be invited to Deepdale to aid their continued transition into new communities.

PNECET is the club’s official charity and situates itself at the heart of the community to improve the lives of those in Preston, with provision centred around Community Engagement, Education, and Health and Wellbeing.

Following the fixture, PNECET will look to further continue its support for Ukrainian refugees and their host families by actively engaging them in its programmes to aid their integration in the local community by utilising the power and appeal of Preston North End.

PNECET Deputy Chief Executive Harriet Creighton-Levis said: “We look forward to inviting Ukrainian refugees and their host families to our final fixture of the season against Middlesbrough this weekend at Deepdale.

“Preston North End is the hub of the local community and we want those who have resettled in our city to be actively engaged in the Preston community, and to understand that we are here to support their integration through our wide-ranging provision.

“We take pride in our diversity, as one of our core values, and we believe it can drive innovation in our community. We welcome all to participate within our programmes and strive to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all when they visit Deepdale.

“We hope to continue inspiring new generations of Preston North End fans through our provision and this matchday activity will provide a fantastic first step to engage with Ukrainian families resettling in Preston.”
