24 May 2022

Ella Radcliffe was glad that her hard work throughout the season for Preston North End Women was recognised at their end-of-season awards after receiving the Most Improved Player Award.

The main thing that Radcliffe gained from the experience of the season was an increase in confidence which she feels has helped her performances as the season progressed.

The recently turned 18-year-old is hoping that this is only the beginning of her development at the club.

She told PNE.Com: “I was grateful to receive the award considering that I am a young player. It is good to get recognised for my development over the year.”

“I am happy that I have improved, my confidence has definitely improved throughout the season, and I am looking forward to improving much more next season.

“My confidence on the ball has improved, I’m now much more comfortable.”

Radcliffe is confident that the team are in a much better place now compared to the start of the season and are in a great position to start the next campaign on a positive note.

She said: “As the season progressed, we all just got much better team bonding, so we all played a part I guess in winning more.

“We have all got more supportive of each other, its developed friendships, and on the pitch, it helped a lot with confidence for everyone.

“We will have a better bonded team and it will show in our performances when we are winning games next season.

“Nearer to the end our performances increased massively, and I can’t wait for next season for it all to come together.”

Radcliffe wants to take the momentum into next season so the team can push on and compete for a league title in the league while also trying to progress in the cup competitions as well.

“Hopefully we can win the league and win more achievements with the cups.”
