Preston North End Community and Education Trust is hosting a charity walking football tournament to raise funds for its trip to Zanzibar in April next year.
More than 20 volunteers are travelling to the African island, which is off the continent’s south east coast and forms part of Tanzania, to leave a lasting difference and legacy of Preston North End to positively impact the lives of those on the island.
Volunteers will be undertaking renovation and construction tasks as well as supporting children with teaching and sports coaching sessions in local primary schools.
All volunteers who are travelling to Zanzibar with PNECET are individually fundraising for the cost of their stay, which includes travel and accommodation costs for the ten-night stay.
A number of fundraising events are being planned to support those making the trip including the upcoming walking football tournament.
Taking place on Friday 18th November 2022 from 9.30am at PlayFootball Preston (PR2 3TX), squads of up to eight are invited to take part in the walking football tournament at the cost of £50 a team.
Registration is from 9.30am before kick-off at 10am, and further donations will be invited with refreshments available on-site.
