Match Report: Crewe Alexandra Women 2 PNE Women 0

5 October 2023

Preston North End Women’s FA Cup run came to an end after suffering defeat to Crewe Alexandra Women.

The Lilywhites travelled to Crewe for the Women's FA Cup second qualifying round.

Crewe are currently in a higher league than PNE, so the game was always going to be a tough one.

Despite this, the Lilywhites started the game well and created some good chances, registering the game's first shot on target.

However, Crewe took the lead after 25 minutes with a long, powerful strike which flew past all Preston players.

Madison Hadley went close to an equaliser but her shot went just wide of the post.

Crewe then doubled their lead from a header in the third minute of added time.

In the second half, North End battled well and continued to create some good chances, but the Crewe goalkeeper had an outstanding performance and kept her team in the match.

Player of the Match went to Eleanor Collins, who worked tirelessly all game and put in some good tackles and played some nice passes to her teammates.

Collins is sponsored by JMG Technical services this season.

PNE will play away against Penwortham Town Ladies in their next league encounter.
