Bristol City Fixture To Play Host To The Official EFL Community Weekend

12 January 2024

This Saturday’s game against Bristol City is our dedicated 'Community Fixture,' as part of the EFL Community Weekend.

It’s an opportunity or us, working together with the Football Club, to showcase the impactful work we do in Preston and the surrounding areas.

Our staff here at the Trust have chosen six Community Champions from across our three strands of Health & Wellbeing, Community Engagement and Education, to be present at the fixture and will be celebrated throughout the day.

The selected Community Champions are being hosted in our executive box and will enjoy recognition and special moments during matchday, including an interview pitch side and giving the players a guard of honour as they enter the pitch prior to kick-off. During the pre-match warm-up, the match day squad will be wearing exclusive t-shirts and some of these will be autographed to be auctioned off at a later date, with proceeds going to the Trust and supporting our ongoing community projects.

We have also distributed an increased allocation of 'Community' tickets, welcoming individuals from across our programmes to Deepdale for the game.

The EFL Community Weekend is an opportunity for us to amplify our initiatives, emphasising the broader impact of our work beyond the pitch and affirming Preston North End Football Club and the Trust’s commitment to helping create positive change and to unite communities within the city.

Speaking about the fixture, CEO of Preston North End Community and Education Trust, Tom Drake, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to showcase what we do to the wider fanbase of Preston North End and to be able to bring our Community Champions to the game and get them involved in matchday is a great way to engage with some of our provision participants.

“I would just like to thank all those who help to fund and support us here at the Trust, as well as all of our staff, who carry out the work we do in the community on a daily basis.”
