As part of our ongoing support for the Amnesty International ‘Football Welcomes Refugees’ campaign, we’re set to welcome around 150 refugees and asylum seekers to Deepdale for our second and final Iftar of Ramadan.
Following on from a successful first Iftar event last Friday (22nd March), which saw over 200 people from our local community and different faiths come together at Deepdale to celebrate peace in our city, our upcoming Iftar event will be themed around supporting those in our community in need.
Speaking about the first Iftar event, Mohammed Patel, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Officer at PNECET said: "Hosting our first Iftar event at Deepdale last Friday was a truly heart-warming experience.
“Witnessing the sense of community and solidarity among our guests as they came together to break their fasts was incredibly inspiring. We also owe a big thank you to our event partners, Roccia, who provided all food and drink for the event, and for the event coming up on Friday April 5th.
“The evening has reaffirmed our belief in the power of football, namely Preston North End Football Club, to unite people within our community from all walks of life.”
Ahead of the upcoming sold out event on April 5th, we have some important news.
We want to maximise the impact of the event and due to high demand and to avoid disappointment, we ask that those already registered confirm their attendance by sending an email, with ‘Iftar Attendance Confirmation’ as the subject, to mohammed@pne.com by 5pm on Sunday 31st March to confirm your attendance.
PNECET also recognises that the event is taking place on the 27th night of Ramadan for many in attendance. We understand the importance of this night for those individuals and look forward to being able to be a part of the special night for those in attendance.
