Andrew Hughes joined PNE in June 2018, arriving from Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.
Used mainly as a left back under Alex Neil, Hughes became an integral part of the North End team when fit, making 34 appearances in his first season.
He continued to be a consistent part of the starting XI and he thrived once he started to operate on the left of a back three in the 2021/22 campaign.
Hughes played 44 times that season and came very close to being named Player of the Year, narrowly missing out behind Daniel Iversen.
Before moving to Deepdale, the defender had made over 100 appearances for Posh, who he joined on a free transfer in 2016.
Hughes began his career with Newport County, where the Cardiff-born defender made almost 150 appearances, winning Young Player of the Year during his time there and also playing in the FA Trophy Final at Wembley.
Hughes was also a part of the Newport team that ended a 25-year absence from the Football League, beating Wrexham 2-0 in the Play-Off final, again under the arch.
