After almost a decade in the Lilywhites’ academy, Josh Earl signed on professional terms in April 2017 following an impressive season in the second year of his scholarship.
Once signed on, Josh spent one month with Lancaster City on a work experience deal from March to April, where he got the chance to get used to senior football.
The defender, from Liverpool, has been with PNE since the age of nine and played a key role in the youth team’s run to the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals in 2016/17 – the furthest any PNE side had managed since 1960 – scoring twice on route to the last eight.
Josh broke in to the first team in August 2017, and featured 20 times throughout the 2017/18 campaign, before making 16 appearances during the following season.
The left back was then sent out on a couple of loans to League One with Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town, before he returned to Deepdale to play a part in the first half of the 2020/21 season.
He spent the second half of that campaign on loan at Burton Albion, playing eight games for the Brewers.
