Liam Lindsay returned to Deepdale on a permanent basis on 9th June 2021 following a successful loan deal.

The central defender initially made the temporary switch from Stoke City in February of the same year and went on to play 13 times for the Lilywhites in the 2020/21 season, scoring twice in that period.

He had joined Stoke back in 2019 from Barnsley for a fee of £2m, potentially rising to £2.5m, but that move didn't quite work out for the Scot as he made just 23 appearances in his two years with the Potters.

Liam had a much better time with his previous club Barnsley, where he won promotion from League One, playing in a defence which conceded just 39 goals over the course of the 46-game season.

The Tykes were his first club in England after previously only playing in his home country Scotland with Partick Thistle, as well as a couple of loans.

In his time with the Jags, he made 73 appearances, 36 of which came in the 2016/17 season.

Liam had a great campaign that year, scoring six goals from defence and earning a place in the Scottish Premiership Team of the Year - the only non-Celtic or Rangers representative.
