Emil Riis Jakobsen

Date of birth

190 cm

Emil Riis Jakobsen joined North End in the summer of 2020 from Danish Superliga side Randers FC.

North End paid a significant undisclosed fee for the highly-rated forward who had a spell in England as a youth team player for Derby County.

Emil scored twice in three games for Randers at the start of the 2020/21 season before joining PNE, winning the player of the month award for September.

Emil massively impressed on his full debut for the Lilywhites in an away victory against Queens Park Rangers, and he went on to feature 39 times in all competitions, scoring three times.

Under Alex Neil, the young forward operated upfront mainly by himself, but once Frankie McAvoy took over towards the end of the season, Riis spent a lot of time in a front two alongside Ched Evans.

Deepdale is not his first home in England so far in his career, having joined Derby County's youth team at the age of 17, but he moved back to Denmark in 2018 to play in the Danish Superliga with Randers.

Riis has also represented the Denmark U21 side on five different occasions, with his first goal for his country coming against Ukraine in 2020.
