Tom Barkhuizen signed for Preston North End from Morecambe in January 2017.

The forward impressed in his first six months with the club, earning him a new three-year deal in the summer.

Barkhuizen scored six times in 17 appearances for North End in the second half of the 2016/17 campaign, and his impressive form in March earned him the EFL's Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards.

He continued to play a key role for PNE in the following season as the club finished seventh in the Championship, with Barky featuring in every league game and finishing the campaign on eight goals.

Six goals came the following season before he hit nine in 2019/20, one of which was a stunning finish to complete a turnaround against Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers, which won Championship Goal of the Month for October 2019.

He scored a similarly impressive goal in 2020/21 in a Carabao Cup victory against Derby County - one of his 47 appearances in all competitions.

Tom's career started at local rivals Blackpool, coming through the youth set up there before stepping up to the first team.

After three loan spells between 2011 and 2014, Barkhuizen made a permanent move to Morecambe in 2015.

He went on to become a fan favourite and made the switch to Deepdale during his second season with the Shrimps.
