Freddie Woodman joined from Newcastle United in the summer of 2022 on a three-year deal.

The goalkeeper made a record-breaking start to life at Deepdale, becoming the first in club history to start their PNE career with seven consecutive clean sheets in the league.

Growing up, Woodman came through the Crystal Palace ranks, before signing for Newcastle aged 16, and he went on to make nine first team appearances for the Tyneside club.

He spent most of his contracted time with the Magpies away from St James’ Park though, being sent out on many loan deals.

The most successful of these was a two-year stint with Swansea City, reaching the Play-Offs on both occasions, with the second ending in defeat at Wembley.

Woodman was also a regular international at youth level, making 56 appearances across six different age groups, and received the Golden Glove at the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup in which England were victorious.
