Brad Potts joined PNE on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Barnsley on 3rd January 2019.
Potts became North End's third signing of the transfer window, and he started life in PR1 in fine form, by netting in his first two away games against Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City respectively.
Used as a midfielder, Potts featured heavily in his first full campaign and then even more so in 2020/21, playing 42 times in the Championship and scoring five goals, one of which was a last-gasp equaliser in Frankie McAvoy's first game in interim charge against Norwich City.
His role changed once Ryan Lowe was appointed manager, though, as he switched to operate as a right wing back, and that turned out to be a great decision.
In one of Lowe’s first games in charge, Potts scored an unbelievable scissor kick away at Stoke City – with his passion for the club coming out in his celebration – before he scored an even better goal in August 2022 against Luton Town. He jumped around five foot in the air to meet a Robbie Brady cross and somehow volleyed home, from pretty much a horizontal position.
Potts came through the ranks at Carlisle United, making over 100 appearances for the Cumbrians, before a move down the M55 to Blackpool, where he would play close to a further 100 games.
Championship side Barnsley then brought him to Oakwell, but the Tykes were relegated during his time there, and once in League One, Potts soon started to hit form, having scored seven goals from midfield in the first half of the season before PNE brought him back to Lancashire.
