Ryan Ledson joined PNE in the summer of 2018 for an undisclosed fee, arriving from Oxford United and signing a three-year-deal.

Ledson graduated through the Toffees Academy, while experience was gained in a loan move at Cambridge United, before his first permanent switch saw him relocate to Oxford.

The midfielder became a key player for the U’s, and as a 20-year-old picked up the Player of the Year award, Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards at the end of the 2017/18 season.

Then came his move to Deepdale, where the Liverpudlian had to be patient for his chances, although he did manage almost 30 appearances in his first season with the club.

That was enough to show everybody what he was about, though, with his tough-tackling and superb eye for a defence-splitting pass two key attributes to his game.

Ledson really came into his own in the 2020/21 season, despite the absence of fans, and he ended the campaign with the Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.

His highlight the following term was a superb strike in a Carabao Cup victory away to Morecambe, but he spent much of the season battling injury, before returning for the final match as a substitute.

After playing a big part in the first half of the 2022/23 campaign, Ryan signed a new deal with the club in December 2022 extend his stay until at least 2025.
