Head Coach

Frankie McAvoy

First Team Management

Date of birth

Frankie McAvoy first joined the PNE staff in the summer of 2017, shortly after Alex Neil was appointed.

Frankie worked with Alex Neil at both Hamilton and Norwich where he was a part of the successes the clubs enjoyed. He won promotion to the Scottish Premiership through a Play-Off final with Hamilton and again won a Play-Off as Norwich won promotion to the English Premier League.

Initially an academy coach, the Scot worked his way up the coaching structure at Hamilton to first team coach, also spending time as academy director. He spent a decade at the Accies before his move south of the border to the Canaries.

Two further years followed at Carrow Road before leaving alongside Alex, who he joined at North End.

Following the departure of Alex Neil as Preston North End manager on 21st March 2021, Frankie was appointed as interim head coach for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

After accumulating 17 points from his eight games in charge, Frankie was offered the head coach role, which he accepted, on a permanent basis.
