Browne Proud To Reach PNE Landmark

2 January 2017

Alan Browne was delighted to seal his 100th game in a PNE shirt with a victory at Burton Albion.

The Irishman has developed year on year at North End under manager Simon Grayson and was proud to reach the landmark.

Speaking to PNE PlayerHD after the 1-0 win at the Pirelli Stadium, Browne said: "I feel privileged to make my 100th appearance for such a great club and I'd like to thank the manager. He's been great with me and I feel like I have come on a lot game by game as a player, both on and off the field and it's a great achievement for me.

"I knew before the game that it was going to be my 100th appearance but the most important thing today was to come away with the three points and thankfully we did that and we can all go home happy."

It was the perfect way to start 2017 for the Lilywhites, though the 21-year-old admits it was a hard fought victory against Nigel Clough's men.

"It's fantastic, it's a great three points for us which was well earned. We had to work hard for it and we knew coming here that that would be the case.

"They really put it to us in the second half, we just had to grind it out and make sure we came away with the three points.

"They are a good team, they are good going forward and it was backs against the wall for a lot of that second half but we had to grind it out as I said.

"It's a different atmosphere to what we are usually used to and I think the most important thing today was to come away with the three points rather than the performance."
