2023 Player Award Winners

8 May 2023

Freddie Woodman has been named as Preston North End’s 2022/23 Sir Tom Finney Player of the Year!

The Player Awards took place on the pitch at Deepdale following Monday’s match against Sunderland, and North End’s No.1 received the main award of the afternoon, which was voted for by the supporters.

Woodman – in his first campaign as a PNE player – kept 17 clean sheets, including a record-breaking seven in a row at the beginning of the season.

Ched Evans took the accolade of Players’ Player of the Year, with his teammates selecting him as the standout individual in a season which saw him net nine goals, but it was unfortunately cut short due to a serious medical condition.

Elsewhere, Manchester United loanee Álvaro Fernández was voted for as the Young Player of the Year by supporters for his impressive performances during his 42 appearances for the club.

Brad Potts won the Goal of the Season vote by an overwhelming margin for his stunning strike away at Luton Town in August, which won the EFL’s Goal of the Month award at the time.

Preston North End Community and Education Trust decided to give this campaign’s Community Player of the Year award to defender Greg Cunningham for his work out and about in the local area, while Bambo Diaby was named the PFA Community Champion for the second year running for his work with the Ramadan initiatives.

Finally, Noah Mawene was recognised for his year captaining PNE U19s by being handed the Scholar of the Year award.

Congratulations to all of our award winners and keep an eye on PNE.Com over the next week or so for reaction.
