Gaffer: ‘We Won’t Rest On Our Laurels’

28 February 2015

A 4-0 victory away from home is enough to delight any manager, but Simon Grayson admits that it’s important his side move on from the resounding win with games coming thick and fast.

It took North End just 72 seconds to break Oldham’s resolve, with Paul Huntington grabbing his eight goal of the season with a header from a corner.

Daniel Johnson made it two just after the half hour mark, and second-half goals from Joe Garner and Jermaine Beckford saw the Lilywhites record their highest league victory since August.

But the celebrations will be limited this evening as attention turns to PNE’s next game – Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday.

“We won’t rest on our laurels – we’ve got to make sure we keep working hard and we’ll dust ourselves down ready for Tuesday,” said the gaffer to PNE Player at Boundary Park this evening.

“We’ll enjoy days like today – the supporters have been here in fantastic force – they’ve made plenty of noise and they can go home very happy.

“We came here against a side with a caretaker manager in place and sometimes you don’t know what to expect with that but we’ve put on a performance today that’s been coming for a long time now.

“We’ve been ruthless in both boxes and we had a real desire and fantastic attitude to do what we’ve done today.”

Head to PNE Player here for more gaffer reaction on the 4-0 win - as well as his thoughts on the goal scoring instincts of Huntington, and his delight that Johnson made it three goals in three games.
