Preston North End striker Jermaine Beckford has been named as April’s League One Player of the Month.
The on loan Bolton Wanderers frontman has been in blistering form of late, scoring five times in North End’s seven matches during the calendar month of April.
And those goals and the crucial points that have gone with them have been vital in earning Beckford this accolade – and the chance to win promotion back to the Championship on Sunday with PNE.
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Jermaine Beckford has hit top form at exactly the right time for Preston North End.
“His five April goals have put the Lilywhites in prime position to be promoted to the Sky Bet Championship.”
Beckford fought off competition from Ben Gladwin (Swindon Town), Will Grigg (MK Dons) and James O’Connor (Walsall) for the coveted award.
