Ryan Lowe was appointed as the new manager of Preston North End on 7th December 2021.

Ryan arrived at Deepdale from League One side Plymouth Argyle, where he had earned promotion from League Two before then pushing towards the top end of the third tier prior to his departure for North End.

The manager, a striker in his playing days, also led Bury FC to League One in the 2018/19 campaign.

Upon arrival at Euxton on the day of his appointment, he spoke to iFollow PNE, calling it a privilege to be offered the job of manager while vowing to excite the club's supporters by bringing an attacking brand of football to the club.

The gaffer opened with a 2-1 victory over Barnsley before Covid intervened and meant the next game came over three weeks later, when PNE defeated Stoke City on the road.

More victories followed, notably against the likes of West Bromwich Albion, AFC Bournemouth and Lancashire rivals Blackpool, and North End ended the 2021/22 campaign in 13th place.

Then, in his first full season at the club, PNE went one place better and finished 12th in the Championship, in with a shout of achieving a Play-Off place until the last couple of matches of the season.
